Philanthropy Impact Appoints New Chair

News (International, UK)

Philanthropy Impact is pleased to announce the appointment of Cath Dovey (nee Tillotson) as its new Chair. Philanthropy Impact’s vision is to create a world where wealthy individuals and families engage in philanthropy supported by advisers who are knowledgeable about the field. The organisation’s mission is to develop the skills and knowledge of professional advisers about philanthropy and social investment.

Cath has been a trustee of Philanthropy Impact since March 2016. She replaces Grant Gordon, who has chaired Philanthropy Impact since 2013 and retired at the end of 2017 but remains a trustee.

Cath co-founded and led Scorpio Partnership, the global wealth management strategy and research firm. She is recognised as a thought leader on global philanthropy, international wealth management, entrepreneurship, the family office, family wealth, the next generation, and women and wealth.

Grant Gordon said:

“Philanthropy Impact has become well-established as a resource for professional advisers who want to support their clients on their philanthropic journeys. Last year the organisation delivered a record number of events and Philanthropy Impact publications reached over 12,000 professionals in the sector, allowing knowledge to be widely shared. I am delighted that Cath will be Philanthropy Impact’s new chair.”

On her new role, Cath Dovey said:

“I am looking forward to continuing to work with Philanthropy Impact’s board, key stakeholders and wider network of partners and supporters to ensure that advisers have access to the knowledge and networks they need to support their clients’ philanthropy and social investment more effectively.

“Accountants, lawyers, wealth managers and financial planners are the first port of call for wealth creators seeking advice. These advisers therefore play a vital role in ensuring their clients achieve their social and philanthropic ambitions.”

Philanthropy Impact, led by CEO John Pepin, delivers services to support advisers in their work with clients, enabling them to navigate their donor journey more effectively resulting in an increase in philanthropic and social investment funding for the social causes.

Philanthropy Impact’s research shows that:

  • Individuals who take professional advice relating to their philanthropy give 17 times more on average.
  • Yet, wealthy individuals currently rate the quality of advice they receive from professional advisers on philanthropy and social investment at 5.9 out of 10.
  • One third would like their advisers to support their charitable giving and social investment more effectively.
